Winners of the edition
VMZINC named the winners of the second edition of its Archizinc Campus Sustainable Building competition on the 18th of November last in Paris.
Four winners from European schools of architecture rose to the challenge: to create a culinary complex at the Vincente Calderon stadium site in Madrid, Spain (the official stadium of the Atlético de Madrid football club).
This Madrid site is located in an urban area undergoing extensive renewal and development. The ARCHIZINC CAMPUS programme proposed adding a culinary dimension to the existing sports and cultural dimensions. The objective was to contribute to developing food autonomy in the region.
After analysing user requirements and the urban & environmental context, the participating students proposed innovative projects integrating the principles of sustainable development.
With this competition, VMZINC® contributes to architectural thought and sustainable building training for students.
« ARCHIZINC CAMPUS invites students to think about sustainable building design as part of a global urban vision that goes beyond choice of materials. This concrete approach is positive and prepares them for professional life. »
FRANÇOISE-HÉLÈNE JOURDA - architect, professor at the University of Vienna (Institute of architecture and design, Spatial and Sustainable Design Department) and recognised sustainable building consultant - presided the Archizinc Campus competition.
